BLEPHAROPLASTY

What blepharoplasty is?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the periocular region.

How is blepharoplasty performed?

Blepharoplasty can be performed for both the upper and the lower eyelids. Upper and lower blepharoplasty can be done simultaneously or separately, depending on the wishes and the anatomical characteristics of each patient.

During surgery, Dr. Buzea will remove the excess skin, muscle and fat while taking care to precisely place the incisions so as the scars won’t be visible. Also, the sunken eyes appearance will be avoided.

Blepharoplasty can be performed under both local and general anesthesia. However, Dr. Buzea recommends mostly local anesthesia.

When is blepharoplasty recommended?

Blepharoplasty is indicated when the eyelid skin is excessive and sagging either because of ageing or due to genetic predispositions. Also, you may need a blepharoplasty if you have deep, static wrinkles around the eyes or if your eyes look tired and swollen.

Dr. Buzea can make you look younger ensuring also a quick recovery with almost invisible scars.

What happens after surgery?

After surgery, your eyes may be bruised and swollen. You might also experience some discomfort. You will have to apply ice and eye drops.

In about one week, the stiches will be removed, but you can resume your daily activities much earlier, after the third day.

The results of a blepharoplasty can last indefinitely.

Since most of the details about the surgery (what it means, how to prepare for the operation, what type of anesthesia will be used, what the recovery implies etc.) must be discussed face to face, doctor Buzea can offer you a personalized consultation. This way, you can have a better understanding of both the risks and benefits of such an intervention, taking into account your wishes as well as your unique anatomical characteristics.
